Difference Between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds

Unless you work in the diamond or crystal industries, you may be asking the question, "What's the difference?" Quite surprisingly, the majority of the population is uneducated on the subject due to the extreme visual similarities seen by the untrained eye. However, when making the decision between crystal or diamond jewelry, there are many factors to take into account, including the significant price difference.

Daniel Swarovski I invented a machine that revolutionized the process of crystal cutting and for the first time, made it possible to cut crystal to perfection. It was the invention and patenting of Swarovski's innovative electric glass-cutting machine, which started the company. In order for Swarovski to achieve the look of their crystals, the crystals are actually cut using the same precision-cutting process in which diamonds are cut. Difference Between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds.

Authentic Swarovski crystals are made only in Austria and do not occur naturally in the earth. Chemical coatings are used to create the many different colors of the crystals. Swarovski is renowned worldwide for manufacturing their crystal products in different forms, sizes, and shapes, presenting the best in the world in cutting, clarity, and brilliance. When purchasing Swarovski crystal there is nothing to think about, it is guaranteed you are purchasing the highest quality crystal every time. In terms of their operations, Swarovski employs over 20,000 people, with factories in Austria and hundreds of retail stores around the world.

Difference Between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds

Crystals are commonly referred to as a diamond simulant or imitation. Simulants may look similar to a diamond, but do not possess the same properties. Diamonds are made out of the element carbon. Natural diamonds are made very deep in the Earth about 180 km below the surface where high temperatures and pressure exist naturally. Logically, this is the reasoning behind the higher value and pricing compared to crystals.

When looking to purchase a diamond it is important to know the 4 C's of diamonds, which is cut, color, clarity, and carat. Diamond certification is an important factor when it comes to buying diamonds and it is sometimes referred to as the 5th C. It is strongly recommended that you purchase a diamond that comes with a report, because you may never know the value and worth of your stone if you don't.

In terms of their operations, the search for diamonds is not exactly easy. Many miners and diamond diggers in sub-Saharan Africa travel great distances to find work and submit to gruelingly long hours for low wages, or sometimes no wages. Children have often been exploited to do excavation work because they are small enough to be lowered into small, narrow pits by ropes to dig out sacks of dirt, which is in turn washed by other children in search of diamonds. Difference Between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds.

Also, even though the development of the diamond industry is seen as key to the economic recovery of war-torn countries, massive environmental degradation is also a byproduct of the rush for riches. Land is often cleared and vegetated areas dug up to create open pit mines, leaving them unsuitable for other farming activities. The salt, heavy minerals and chemical products from mining equipment can run off into rivers and pollute vital water sources for mining communities and people living downstream. Difference Between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds.

It is ironic how two very visually similar objects can have so many significant differences. However, the few mentioned in this article are important to consider when making your purchase. It is a much more complex circumstance to buy a diamond however, the decision to buy either one of these products depends on each individual's financial situation and reasoning for purchasing.

A Historic Park in the Middle of Busy Boston City

The Boston Common is a popular public park in the city that is found right next to the public garden in the heart of Boston City. The Boston Common is also known as the oldest city park in the United States and dates back to the 17th century when it was used as a pasture. The park is which is nearly 50 acres in size is the starting point of the Freedom Trail and acts as the anchor of the "Emerald Necklace" which is a chain of interconnected parks and greens in Boston that encompasses nearly all of the city's neighborhoods.

From a historical perspective the Boston Common has been used for a variety of purposes; such as being a place for cattle to graze in the 1630's to being used a military camp by the British during the 18th century. Boston Common Garden

Boston Common Gardens is the oldest public park in America and it was then built as a ground for feeding purposes of sheep and cattle of the people of that area. William Blackstone started the park in the year of 1622 and in 1630 his companion Puritans joined him to share the process of administration of the land.

This historical land area of 44 acres has been used as a training field of British army forces and as a place where pirates, witches and criminals were hanged the past history. It has also been used as a very famous public speaking place. For instance, Sir Martin Luther King and Pope John Paul II have had their public speeches here and it has been a main site where the feminist revolution was encouraged. emerald necklace boston.

Boston Common is one piece of the Emerald necklace which is a combination of public parks in Boston and it has been the place where about two hundred people rioted against the food shortage of the city on 19th May 1713. And in the recent time over hundred protesters gathered to the Common ground in1965 in order to riot against the Vietnam War and after that, the second protest took place in the same place with more than 100,000 people on 15th October 1969.

And today it allows the visitors to hold both formal and informal events and to take pleasure in a musical concert or a classic performance of Shakespeare. In the year of 1987 the Common Park was declared as a "National Historic Landmark" in the USA and on 21st October 2006 this national landmark was the place where a new world record was established. It was the event of lighting 30,128 "Jack-o'-lanterns" at once illuminating the entire park breaking the previous record of 28,952 lanterns in 2003. emerald necklace boston.

Some of the regular events that take place in the Boston Common can be mentioned as the Boston Lyric Opera, the Freedom Rally and the most popular concert "Shakespeare on the Common". named the region the Blue Hills.

TURTLE Crystal Pendant Necklace in Turtle Gift Box!Cleopatra is among the avid fans of emeralds. These precious stones have received equal praises from both men and women in the past. A genuine emerald is really a breathtaking beauty especially if set in gold and is also considered one of the greatest gemstones aside from diamond, sapphire and ruby. Traditionally, we use emeralds to celebrate the 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries. And it is not only the ring that is liked by people but the entire collection of emerald jewelry as well. It is not only in one part of the world that these emeralds are famous but all over the world as well.

Brazil and Colombia have the most production of emerald along with other South American countries. The entire Africa, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe are also where numerous emeralds are mined. Columbian emerald is the most popular of these types. This gem comes in a variety of colors like blue green, yellow green and a whole lot of different shades in green. From all these colors, grass green is the most preferred. Become a Collector of Gold Necklace Emerald Jewelry.

Moreover, when we talk of monetary value, this is directly proportional to the greatness of the color. Size can also alter its worth. However, flaws are really unavoidable in almost all emeralds and they are also very fragile as well. That is why proper care is needed when handling this stone.

There are a lot of imitation emeralds in the market like the YAG and spinal triplets. The stone underwent several processes. And there are several ways in order to know which one is genuine. Emeralds can be used in earrings, rings, necklace, bracelets and pendants. Gold emerald jewelry is very bright and would compliment the way you look. Accent stones are also added to emerald jewelry like diamonds, ruby and sapphire. But if you are kind of short in cash then go for the other combinations such as amethyst, citrines and garnets. Gold emerald jewelry would suit you in almost any occasion. Furthermore, there are correct ways of cleaning them and an ultrasonic cleaner should never be used. Since emeralds have internal flaws the method in which you clean them could actually destroy it. Do not also use soapy water as the soap contains harsh chemicals that might harm the stones. And also, make sure that you have a certificate when you purchase gold emerald jewelry to make sure that they are genuine. Become a Collector of Gold Necklace Emerald Jewelry.

Costomer Review.

A REALLY GREAT GIFT !!!!!,
by Barbara Nelson.

I love jewelry, and I really like to give jewelry as gifts. It's personal and very special.

For my sister's birthday this year it was a real struggle. She LOVES emeralds. Between my tight budget, and the selection of emeralds at the mall being really expensive ($299 for a very, very small 10k Gold round pendant... full of inclusions!), I almost gave up. When I found this pendant on Amazon, I was happy with the Emerald size (2cts!) shape (Hearts are very unusual for emeralds) and the design of the pendant.

Silver was a good choice as you get a really great look for the money, especially the fact that it was 14k gold plated made me feel much better about the silver turning colors. It's very rare to find white gold plated silver, it keeps the pendant looking perfect and it makes the silver look and feel exactly like gold. I placed my order and waited for the pendant.

1.95 cttw 925 Sterling Silver 14K White Gold Plated Created Heart Shaped Emerald Pendant by Finejewelers.

I was so happy with it I had to write a review! It exceeded all my expectations! Starting with the presentation, perfect for gift giving. The pendant was in a classy royal blue "Treasure Chest" box, with a small silver lock on it! The "Treasure Chest" was inside an elegant matching gift box, with a white satin bow on it, and this gift box was itself placed in a matching royal blue velvet pouch. You also get lots of extras.

I got a Certificate of Authenticity and a Lifetime warranty Card, and handy and very interesting gem information card. I was blown away. It all made the gift look so special, unique and expensive! Just the presentation alone was worth the purchase! The pendant itself was STUNNING! The emerald perfect in any way, A great size, perfect color and no inclusions. Brilliant like a diamond!

The design is elegant, classic and flawless! Even the chain was well made! No need to wrap, I handed the blue pouch with all the cards to my sister at her birthday dinner and the gift was such a hit. It was fun to see her unwrapping it all, all the layers of great presentation added to the excitement! She was so happy with her gift and she has worn the pendant everyday since. She tells me she gets many compliments at work.

With Christmas coming soon, I know I'll get more gifts right here. Thank You for a great shopping experience. PS Delivery was as fast as promised! Thank you again!

Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace For $200!Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace

In this economy (or any economy, really) people are desperate to become more frugal while keeping their lifestyle, or at least some semblance of it. One area where people are cutting back is in their high-end jewelry: they're buying less and less of it. But just because you don't want to shell out the three large to buy that stunning ruby and sapphire necklace you saw at Neiman Marcus doesn't mean you can't have it. A bargain can be found in your local bead store.

It's a well-kept secret that many local jewelry designers don't want you to know. You can buy all the parts for that exact same necklace and put it together yourself for less than $200 bucks. Sure, you have to make it yourself, but the outcome is the same: you have a ruby and sapphire necklace. Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace.

Specifically, you'll need a roll of beading wire sometimes called tiger tail ($2.00), a set of gold or gold-filled clasps ($12.00), two crimp beads ($.25), a pair of pliers for crimping ($10.00), two gold, 4mm spacer beads ($4.00), a strand of faceted ruby roundels ($70.00), and a strand of faceted sapphire roundels ($100.00). And that's all you need! For less than $200.00 you have a precious gemstone necklace that would sell for 10 times that in any high-end store.

Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace

And you don't have to stop at ruby beads or sapphire beads. Instead you can make luxurious, wearable art out of just about any type of gemstone you can think of.
Faceted gemstone beads are found in emerald, garnet, opal, and even diamond. Faceted diamond roundels can be found in clear, blue and Champagne-tinted hues. The most dramatic faceted diamond bead is the black diamond. Found in Alaska, it seems to shimmer as it lies around your neck. Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace.
Also, don't forget about pearls. A strand of near-perfect cultured saltwater pearls will set you back less than $100.00. String them with the same materials as those listed above and what might normally cost around $500.00 is yours for a bargain.

Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace

And while the economy presents opportunities to save money as you expand your jewelry collection, it is also presenting many with the opportunity to open up their own business as jewelry designers. Even if you resold the necklace you just made at double the price you spent on it, you'd still be selling it for a steal compared to the same necklace in the jewelry store display.
So why aren't more people getting into making their own expensive jewelry the inexpensive way? Maybe they're hoping against hope this recession doesn't last much longer. Or maybe they're just in denial. Make a $3,000 Ruby and Sapphire Necklace.

Whatever the case, it's easy to see that making your own jewelry, like a ruby and sapphire necklace, a diamond necklace, or an emerald and gold bead necklace, is a much smarter decision than dropping the money it'd take to buy them on Rodeo Drive. And even if it doesn't come wrapped in a fancy jewelry box, at least you can keep your house and still dress in style!

Emeralds - Look Beautiful In GreenEmeralds Look Beautiful In Green

Emeralds in History

The word Emerald is from the Greek word "smaragdos," meaning "green stone". It is considered to be a holy stone and is believed to be one of the gemstones found in the breastplate of Aaron. Throughout history, different races have been fascinated by emeralds - Egyptians, Incas, and Spanish. This fascination continues to the present time.

If your daughter's birthday is on May and you are looking for her first earring, you could give her an earring with an emerald stone. If your 20th or 35th wedding anniversary is fast approaching and you are looking for the perfect gift for your wife, maybe you could consider getting her emerald earrings for this special occasion. The ancients believe that an emerald symbolizes serenity of spirit and of mind. You might probably shrug your shoulders on ancient beliefs but emeralds are really soothing and restful for the eyes. Judging Emeralds

Today, emeralds are still used for earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Emerald jewelry is one of the best gifts for women. They are pretty expensive though as they cost thousands of dollars, but are worth buying just to let your wife know you value her. It is a rather good gift for a marriage that lasted 20 years or 35 years! Emeralds Look Beautiful In Green

It is difficult to look for a very good piece of emerald jewelry as high-quality emeralds could be very rare. Many emeralds contain bubbles or inclusions. Being a very old form of stone, you'd know how old the emerald is by the bubbles it has. The value of an emerald depends on its color, on how green it is. The greener the emerald, the more valuable and expensive it is. Bubbles do not affect the value; it is the color that determines the worth of the emerald.

A form of emerald that is especially considered to be of high-quality is the Columbian emerald. A famous Columbian emerald is the Trapiche which has six rays emanating from the center when the stone is cut.

When you are buying an emerald necklace, bracelet or earring, you must carefully check the stone as there are a lot of fake emeralds being sold in the market. It is safer to buy from a high-quality jewelry store to avoid buying these fake emeralds. Look for a GIA certificate which would assure you that the emeralds are genuine.

Make sure the stones are not heated, irradiated, coated or dyed in any way. Some stones are subjected to this treatment to change their color and make them more expensive. Check the stones from all angles and check the color as well. The greener the stone is, the more valuable it is. Although emeralds are rarely perfect, check for bubbles, inclusions or other flaws. There should be no scratches or flaws on the stone's surface.

If a stone is set off as a ring or as a necklace, make sure that you could see the back of the stone. It should have a claw setting and the setting should allow the light to pass through so that the stone will not look dull. Emeralds Look Beautiful In Green

History of the Emerald

History of the Emerald

One of the earliest records of the emerald is found in the Bible. The book of Exodus written by Moses about 1400 B.C. tells us that an emerald was one of twelve stones placed in the Breastplate of Judgment (Exodus 28:18). This breastplate was worn by the High Priest of the Israelites and had certain supernatural properties. The stones were arrayed in four rows with three stones in each row. According to most bibles including the King James Version the emerald was the first stone in the second row.

There is a debate about whether or not the Hebrew word "nophak" (English rendition of the Hebrew word) refers to an emerald. Most biblical researchers(1) and other ancient texts refer to this as a "carbuncle" or ruby. The word for the last stone in the first row is "baraketh", and the same researchers say that it was the emerald. Therefore it is more likely that the emerald was the third stone in the first row of the Breastplate of Judgment.

History of the Emerald

"And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and Thummim;..." (Exodus 28:30, KJV). Urim meaning "light" and Thummim meaning "perfection" were not physical objects that were placed on the breastplate. The book of Exodus goes into intricate detail as to how all of the objects were to be sized and attached to the ephod. Therefore the Urim and Thummim "the oracle of God" was a spiritual and supernatural entity that was placed on the breastplate. Each stone on the breastplate had the name of one of the tribes of Israel engraved upon it. Talmudic tradition (Jewish tradition) says that God illuminated letters in the engraved names to bring revelation to the priest.

The earliest known emeralds were mined in Egypt. It is known that the emerald was among the most highly prized stones of the Egyptians. It was found in many tombs of the ancient Egyptian kings, usually an emerald necklace was placed around the king's neck. It was believed to ensure eternal youth in the afterlife. When Israel left Egypt they carried much of the treasure of Egypt with them. So it was highly likely that an emerald was one of the stones in the breastplate.

History of the Emerald

Thus the emerald's ancient and auspicious beginnings testify to it's lasting popularity and value. That the emerald was one of the twelve stones chosen by God to be placed on the garments of His High Priest is a testimony to it's beauty and importance. As we shall see in future articles, the mystic and mythology of the emerald will continue to grow.
